About Au44 Cottages
Au44 Cottages offers four cottage accommodation on the farm Skarð II. Skarð is a horse breeding farm, owned by the family that lives here, and is about 900 acres in size. The cottages are located near the village Flúðir, a green, fertile and beautiful town that offers a range of restaurants, shops and activities in its surroundings. Flúðir has located around 11 km from AU44 Cottages.
The cottages are ideally located for those wanting to explore the natural wonders of South Iceland as many of the regions main attractions are located within a short driving distance.
Könnulag & Mylluberg – Au44 Cottage 1 & 2
The cottage is brand new and built by ourselves this winter, and the outer layer, the coverings, are with wood from the Þjórsárdalur valley. It has the heating in the floor, geothermal heating from a farm nearby. It is a very peaceful place with a beautiful mountain view and to the river Þjórsá, the biggest glacial river in Iceland. It is a studio apartment, shared room, with twin bed and a sleeping sofa. Perfect for a couple, solo travellers or with children.

Directions
From Reykjavík to Skarð
You drive on road 1 through Selfoss, 15 km out of it, then turn left to road 30.
Drive without turning for 20 km, then turn right, up the driveway to Skarð/Arngrimslundur, just before you come to a bridge over Stóra-Laxá river, which you do not cross.
The driveway is well marked with signs that say; Skarð and Arngrímslundur.
Taking road 30 and not crossing the bridge is most important, the bridge is the best landmark.
When you come to the driveway to Skarð you drive you to follow the signs Arngrimslundur guest houses to the cottage, which will be open and ready for you to arrive when it suits you best.
At arrival go to the cottage marked Könnulág (second cottage from the car park) or Mylluberg (second cottage from the car park).

A very nice cabin in beautiful surroundings, with open wi-fi, nice shower, 10 km from Flúðir, 35 km from Selfoss, and is perfect for 2 persons, with a double room and extra pull-out sofa. The cabin is placed in a very quiet tree grove and is close to the Golden Circle, and the South coast. The cabin is very private in a beautiful space surrounded by trees and beautiful flora. You park only 20 meters from it and is accessible by every sort of a car.

Location
Our cottages are placed in beautiful surroundings on the edge of Golden Circle, 10 km from village Flúðir and 35 km from Selfoss. Many of South Iceland’s main natural attractions are located within a short driving distance. Þingvellir National Park is an hour drive away and The Golden Circle is only 30 minutes away.
We also recommend that you visit the town of Flúðir. Flúðir is a small but rapidly growing community, located only 25-minutes off the main Ring Road. The area surrounding Flúðir is green, fertile and beautiful. There is an abundance of activity options in the surroundings of Flúðir, the Secret Lagoon and Laugavatn Fontana to name a few.
